RefMobile

RefWorks is now accessible from your smart phone, mobile phone or PDA!

RefMobile offers specific functionality including:

  • Searching within your RefWorks account
  • Viewing ALL references and file attachments (if the attachment type is supported by your mobile device)
  • Viewing references by folder
  • Adding or removing references to/from a folder
  • Creating new folders
  • Entering new references via SmartAdd — which locates references on the web when you enter an ISBN, DOI, PubMed ID (PMID), first author and pub year, or partial title
  • Adding comments or text to the Notes field of your references

Importing references from Poiesis (Philosophy online)

Our access to Poiesis, a database with philosophy journals, has changed. Exporting references from this database to your RefWorks-account is now possible. These are the steps you have to take:

  1. Click on ‘Save’ for each title
  2. Open ‘Saved’ on the top of the screen
  3. Mark the titles
  4. Click ‘Export’ 
  5. Select ‘RefWorks’ next to ’Format’
  6. Mark ‘Long format’
  7. Click ‘Export’
  8. Save as a text file

Go to your RefWorks-account and choose References > Import. The Import Filter is RefWorks Tagged Format and the database is Tagged Format.

New: RefGrab-It 2 (Beta version)

We received this message from RefWorks: “We are pleased to announce that we have developed the next generation of our RefGrab–It tool and we would welcome your assistance in beta testing.

 RefGrab-It Version 2 has three different options available:

  • A bookmarklet (which is how the current RefGrab-it is available)
  • A browser add-on for Internet Explorer (requires downloading and installation)
  • A browser add-on for Firefox (requires downloading and installation)

In all three options of RefGrab-It, the functionality has been enhanced from the current version to include improved handling of information from the following sources:

  • Amazon
  • Google Scholar
  • PubMed
  • Wikipedia
  • BBC
  • USA Today
  • New York Times
  • Los Angeles Times

All other Websites will continue to be supported with the original functionality but the display has been enhanced to load within the new interface.”
